One more snowman

Today we decorated our front yard for Christmas. The weather was great and snow is predicted for Sunday night. There will be a Holiday Walk Tour on our street this weekend, so the neighbors out bustling about getting their homes decorated too.

I can't wait for Eric to see the 9ft snowman in the front yard. You see, I have this snowman collection that he kids me about. He reminds me that I don't need any more. Mine all fit on and around my bakers rack.

I think Alex will really enjoy it! Oh well, now to decorate inside.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time of year for more then just feasting or getting ready for Black Friday. To me, Thansgiving is more about being thankful. It's a time to count your blessings! When we take time to pause and reflect, we will find that we are more blessed then we thought.

In this day and age, the world has become all about me, mine & stuff. Here in America, you can own a car, own a house, have a tv in every room along with a dvd combo vcr player. You can wear the latest fashions, shop till you drop and have fast food or a fresh brewed coffee latte. You can own 50 pair of shoes and still feel like you don't have enough. We have the freedom to cross into another state with out being stopped at their boarders. You can have a higher education, become a doctor, lawyer, excutive or become president of the United States.

In America, we have freedom of speech, the right to go to church, the right to bear arms. We have young men & women who have volunteer to serve our country to keep our freedoms free.
My son Eric being one of them.

I have a home, a car, a job. I have stuff and clothes and shoes. I have food on the table and heat and running water. I am priviledged to live in America.

I am thankful for:

My husband

My children

My son-in-laws

My grandchildren

Having time with my parents

The health of my family

For friendships

The many freedoms we have here in the United States

But most of all my salvation through Jesus Christ and the freedom to talk about it

So, take time to count your blessings and see just how blessed you are.

Returning the favor

1954 / 2008

Back in 1954, my mom, my brother Paul & I traveled by train ,from Detroit to New York City, to see my grandmother. While we were there, my mom took us to Radio City Music Hall to see the Rocketts. Well, this year, in fact today, I am taking my mom to see the Rocketts. I realize they will not be the same girls we saw 54 years ago, but I enjoy the fact that this time, I'm taking her.

I remember being mesmerized by the music and costumes and dancing. I sure that 54 years later, I'll still be in awe.

As The Thread Flies

What do the above pictures have in common? The fact that Christmas is coming and I have work to do. Granted, it's work I love to do. My granddaughter Sarah is getting an American Girl Doll and she loves the Disney Princesses, espically Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella.

Over the past year, I have made Sarah dress-ups of 5 of the Disney Princess, so I thought this year, I would make doll dresses to match. Now, she'll get Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella for Christmas, and then I'll do the others for her Birthday in January.

I always loved playing with dolls. My dad said that's why I had two girls first. I've sewn for them over the years, even made their wedding dresses. Now I have two granddaughters to sew for.....and their dolls. So, I'm still in a way playing with dolls and I'm having fun. May the sewing continue!

History in the making

History in the making!

I'm proud to be an American and have the opportunity to vote.

Whatever the out come of todays election, there will be history in the making. We will either have the first women Vice President or the first African American President. More people have registered to vote and more people who are already registered will actually vote and according to the news, there's been a great turn out at the polls.

There are many factors that decided the choices that have been made today. One thing for sure, whatever the out come of the person I voted for, I will not fret nor be afraid,
In God I Trust!
